Mutual of Omaha ranks very high in overall customer satisfaction and is very competitive in a majority of states. Specifically, their Medicare Supplement Plan G is consistently one of the lowest priced plans in most areas. Mutual of Omaha also offers self-enrollment through the Mutual of Omaha Online Application.
Aetna was fifth in the nation for Medicare Supplement sales in 2015. They have an A rating from AM Best. Their rates are highly competitive in a majority of states. Their underwriting process is one of the best in the industry regarding ease and convenience.

They are launching new plans in many states, and with an A++ rating from AM Best, they are the highest rated Medicare Supplement company in the industry. We also rank them as the most competitively priced in the industry. You will often find they have the best rates if plans are offered in your area. Even though they are not yet available in all states, Thrivent Financial is an up and coming leader and certainly deserves to be on this list.

United HealthCare is clearly the most popular Medicare Supplement company. They lead the nation in sales for 2015 and have more policies in force than any other company. They have an A rating by AM Best. However, when it comes to competitiveness, they do not rank well in most states. If low premiums are a priority, as they should be, there could be better options depending on where you live. You will also want to consider the additional cost of joining AARP. Liberty Bankers is new to the Medicare Supplement market. They have a B+ rating from AM Best. We have included them on the list due to their rates. Liberty Bankers is very competitively priced. In December 2016 they ranked 2nd on the Medigap Premium Scorecard by CSG Actuarial. Because their Medicare Supplement plans are new, there likely won’t be any rate increases in the near future.
