Medicare Part A Deductible
The Medicare Part A Deductible applies to benefits paid under Medicare Part A (Hospital). Before Medicare pays 80% of the approved expenses, you must pay the deductible for each Benefit Period.
In 2017, the Medicare Part A Deductible is $1,316.
Medicare Part A Deductible Benefit Period Definition
When you are admitted to the hospital, a Benefit Period starts. When you are discharged and remain out of the hospital for 60 consecutive days, your Benefit Period ends. After ending, if you are admitted again, you start a new Benefit Period and have to pay the Medicare Part A Deductible again.
